Why Japanese?

My life has actually been associated with Japanese since I was born. Even my nickname in Thai, Jap, was also inspired by my mom's love for Japan. Ever since as early as I could recall, I have played Japanese toys so many times but never got tired of them. In elementary school I woke up at exactly eight every weekend just to sit in front of the TV and marvel at Doraemon and his magical tools. That one Japanese restaurant right across from my mom's workplace was also the place where we always went to celebrate birthdays and other special occasions. I have eaten out at sushi and ramen places in Bangkok than I have at any other restaurant (if you haven't been in Bangkok and are looking for good Japanese food at reasonable price, definitely make sure you visit there! We literally have Japan town all over Bangkok.)  I have watched Japanese cooking shows countless times, I have used various Japanese make products; I wear Japanese-brand watch; and all of my pants I own are from Uniqlo (yes, I'm not even kidding). But the thing is, I have never been to Japan, nor do I know Japanese! Reflecting on how much I have interest in Japanese culture, I started to think I should take up Japanese. So before I left home for college this summer when my mom asked me where I want to go for holiday this winter break, I confidently told her, "Yeah, mom, let's go to Japan. By this winter I could be your guide in Japan!!!"
